GC/MS (Quadrupole, Agilent)

The apparatus presented consists of an Agilent 6890 Series gas chromatograph coupled to a 5973 MSD. The instrument is provided with a HP 7683 Series auto-injector to perform on-column injections on a 0.32 mm I.D. retention gap. The data system applied is the HP B.02.05 Chemstation.

GC/MS (Ion trap, Finnigan)

This system consists of a Varian Model 3400 Gas Chromatograph coupled to a Finnigan Mat Magnum ion trap mass spectrometer. The injector is a 1075/1077 split/splitless injector.  Injections are performed manually. The system is controlled by the Magnum software installed on a Digital DECpc LPv 466 d2. Forensic samples are analyzed here to identify unknows compounds.

This apparatus (HP 5890) is used for the analysis of volatile substances such as alcohol (ethanol), methanol and aceton. This machine is equipped with a headspace autosampler. A Flame Ionization Detector is used as detector.
